Mercedes states that brake booster function could be affected by advanced corrosion in the joint area of the housing

NHTSA has stated driving any Mercedes vehicle involved in the recall is dangerous & should be avoided

The affected units are said to offer lower braking performance & can even cause total brake failure

G.L., ML, & R-Class Mercedes manufactured between 2006-2012 are among the affected vehicles

The plan for fixing involves having dealers look at each unit & replace brake boosters as necessary

So far, Mercedes states there were no known injuries related to the matter

Mercedes-Benz first noted the issue in 2021, did an internal investigation & decided to launch a recall in 2022
