Interview With Jurgis Plikaitis, Co-Founder and CEO OF EpiCar

In the ever-evolving landscape of automotive sales, EpiCar has emerged as a trailblazing startup, redefining the way dealers and private sellers connect in the digital age.

EpiCar is more than just a marketplace; it represents a revolution in automotive sales. Harnessing cutting-edge AI technology, it offers fair valuations, lightning-fast transactions, and increased profitability, making the process seamless for both private car sellers and dealerships. In this exclusive interview, we delve into the journey, challenges, and vision of Jurgis Plikaitis, the driving force behind EpiCar, as he shares his insights into the future of automotive sales.

Who is your startup aimed at?

We’re here to help dealers expand their inventory. You can easily find a variety of vehicles on our marketplace and get updates on new deals in your preferred area.

Moreover, our target audience is people who want to sell their cars without all the fuss. You know, the headache of running around to different dealerships, haggling for the best price, wasting precious time. Who needs that, right? We’re here to help people save time and enjoy it with their family, or maybe just have a rest. Plus, who wants to bet on getting the best deal with just one dealer visit? With us, it’s as easy as snapping a pic and putting your car up for sale. The dealers will come to you – simple as that.

How does your startup stand out against its competitors?

We’re setting ourselves apart by connecting dealers with a fresh approach to buying cars from private sellers. They are our source of cars, and this sets us apart from other players in the market. Yet, for dealers, the process of selecting and purchasing a vehicle will feel familiar, resembling auction-style methods like those of Manheim and Adesa. Also, we’re planning to provide some tools that will make decision-making a whole lot easier for them.

Where did the idea for the startup come from?

After years of experience in the automotive industry and direct interactions with dealers, we’ve identified their primary challenge: the search for profitable inventory. Our team has interviewed dealers to understand their needs and preferences, and we launched EpiCar as a direct response to their concerns.

Did you have any concerns when starting your business, if so what were they?

Of course, launching a business is an adventure, and it’s natural to have some concerns. Right now, our primary focus is on expanding our network of dealerships.

Dominant market players often call the shots and leave smaller dealers in the dust with their high marketing budgets. That’s why we’re here to shake things up and level the playing field. Join us in making the market more competitive and fair. Our aim is to balance the scales so that everyone can access quality inventory.

What is your business background, and what got you interested in startups?

My journey in the business world is driven by a lifelong passion for cars. I’ve channeled this enthusiasm into launching and managing successful ventures. I started with A Better Bid, an online car auction marketplace, and from there, I delved into EpicVIN, providing VIN reports, and AutoInspect, focusing on auto inspections for transparency in the used car market.

These experiences have equipped me with a profound understanding of the automotive sector and inspired my love for startups. Now, I’m thrilled to add EpiCar to my entrepreneurial journey.

How long has your startup been in the making, and who is the team behind the business?

The journey to launch EpiCar took several months of meticulous planning and development. We needed to ensure that every aspect of the marketplace would meet the high standards we envisioned.

The founding team consists of myself and my co-founder Andrei Krainik as well as our Chief Marketing Officer Alex Black. Our team has now expanded to encompass up to 12 individuals.

What has been your biggest challenge so far as a startup owner?

Our biggest challenge has been immersing ourselves in the market and working hard to truly understand it. We want to create a product that’s incredibly user-friendly for dealers and private car sellers, making everything smooth and straightforward.

Our goal is to reshape the global vision in a way that buying and selling a car isn’t a nerve-wracking experience but a simple and accessible one. So, our goal is to create a project that simplifies the selling process for private sellers and the inventory search for dealers.

In the coming year, what would you like to achieve with your business?

In the upcoming year, our main goal is to onboard as many dealers as possible and to have dealers make their first car purchases through our marketplace.

Finally, If you could give one piece of advice to someone thinking about starting a business, what would it be?

If I could offer just one piece of advice to someone contemplating starting a business, it would be this: Stay customer-focused. Think about your customers and design your product to meet their needs. It’s all about making their lives better and more convenient.
